Bible Christian Church: A Growing Hub for Community and Faith in Garden City

Bible Christian Church, located on Mary Street, offers a dynamic environment for individuals and families of all ages, promoting spiritual growth, community, and service. With a rich history of ministry and a strong commitment to meeting the needs of its congregation, the church has become a vital part of the local community.

Sunday Services and Ministries

Bible Christian Church hosts two Sunday morning services at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, designed to cater to both early risers and those who prefer a later service time. Alongside these worship services, there are a variety of ministry opportunities for all ages, ensuring that everyone in the family can participate.

  • Adult Classes: These educational opportunities help deepen spiritual understanding and foster connection among adults.
  • Kids/Youth Ministry: The church offers programs for Pre-K through 12th grade during both service times. This includes age-appropriate Bible teachings and engaging activities that help nurture the faith of the younger generation.

Midweek Programs

The church also offers several midweek programs to support families and provide a place for children and students to grow in their faith:

  • Wednesday Flash Kids Program (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM): This volunteer-run program caters to Pre-K through 6th grade and provides a fun, engaging learning environment for children.
  • Wednesday Night Student Ministry (7:00 PM - 8:30 PM): Called SWITCH, this program is designed for 7th through 12th graders, providing them with a space to connect with peers, engage in Bible study, and grow in their faith.

Specialized Ministries

Bible Christian Church is dedicated to supporting diverse groups within the community:

  • Mom Co (formerly MOPS): This group for moms meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. In addition to fellowship and support, Mom Co hosts regular Bible studies to encourage spiritual growth in the lives of mothers.
  • Celebrate Recovery: Held on Tuesday evenings, this non-medical recovery program offers support for those dealing with hurts, habits, or hang-ups, including mental and physical struggles.
  • Life Groups: These small, weekly gatherings foster connection and community either at the church or in members' homes.
  • Pickleball Ministry: Newer but highly popular, this ministry gathers players for Pickleball games on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • AIM (All Included Ministry): For children with special needs or disabilities, AIM ensures that each child is paired with a “buddy” to assist them during activities, while promoting acceptance and inclusion among their peers.

Preschool and Childcare Services

The church also offers preschool education for children, run by Laurie Ulrich, wife of Lead Pastor Chad Ulrich. The Preschool serves 4-year-olds on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with both morning and afternoon options, and 3-year-olds on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Additionally, childcare services are often provided for various church events, such as Sunday services and small group meetings, allowing parents to fully engage in worship and fellowship.

A Growing Facility

Over the years, Bible Christian Church has seen significant growth, both in its ministries and its facilities.

  • Original Building: The church originally occupied a space across the street on the other side of Mary Street.
  • Phase 1 (2004): The first expansion in 2004 included the acquisition of property on the opposite side of Mary Street, expanding the church's footprint and ministry offerings.
  • Phase 2 (Completed August 2024):  The church's most recent expansion included a new, modern lobby and worship center and a coffee bar. The new space also features renovated kids ministry spaces  with an enclosed playground and significant updates to the church’s facilities overall. The funding for Phase 2 came from the sale of old buildings in June 2022, which allowed the church to reinvest into the ministry and better serve its congregation.

One of the biggest enhancements in Phase 2 is the lobby, a modern, spacious area that fosters conversation and connection before and after services. The updated worship center combines modern technology with warm, welcoming decor, creating an inviting atmosphere for people of all ages to worship.

Additionally, during the building expansion process, the church worked with several local vendors, including Hutton Construction for general contracting, 3G Electric for electrical work, and Tatro Plumbing and HVAC for plumbing and heating needs. This commitment to using local resources supports the economy and strengthens ties within the community.

Key Events at Bible Christian Church

Bible Christian Church hosts a variety of events throughout the year that bring together the congregation and local community:

  • Fall Fest: Held in the last week of October, Fall Fest is a family-friendly event featuring over 40 activities, free food, games, and inflatables for children.
  • Christmas Eve Services: A time for families to gather and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
  • Easter: The church places a special focus on children during Easter, with engaging activities and a celebration of the resurrection.
  • Vacation Bible School (VBS): Held each summer, VBS offers a fun-filled, safe environment where kids can learn about God and make lasting memories.

Pastor Chad Ulrich: A Local Leader with a Heart for Ministry
