Mary Street IceHouse

Mary Street IceHouse: A Local Favorite and Hometown Gem in Garden City

Located in the heart of Garden City, Kansas, Mary Street IceHouse has quickly become more than just a liquor store. It’s a vibrant community hub offering a one-of-a-kind experience for both locals and visitors. Co-founded by Sean and Ronell Thayer and Jessica Regan, the IceHouse blends big-town energy with small-town charm, making it a staple in the area.

Why Garden City?

The decision to open in Garden City was a personal one for the Thayers. Having grown up in the area, they wanted to bring something fresh and exciting to their hometown. They envisioned a store that captured the feel of a big-town liquor store, but in the familiar setting of Garden City. Their goal was simple: to provide the community with a new and fun shopping experience that catered to all their needs.

The Spark Behind the Idea

The idea for Mary Street IceHouse was born out of a holiday shopping frustration. During one holiday season, Sean and Ronell needed to gather spirits and non-alcoholic items for the holidays. They quickly realized that no store in Garden City offered everything they needed in one place. Instead of hopping from store to store, they envisioned a place where customers could find everything needed in a single stop. This vision eventually became Mary Street IceHouse.

A Wide Variety of Products and Services

Mary Street IceHouse offers an extensive selection, with nearly 6,500 different products in stock. From spirits to wine, beer, cigars, and local food products the store has something for everyone. They also take pride in making purified IceHouse Ice in-house. Customers can fill their coolers at the Curbside area or purchase bags in different sizes. In addition to their vast product selection, the IceHouse provides a variety of services. For special events like weddings, graduations, and reunions, they offer bulk pricing discounts. Gift wrapping services and curated gift baskets are also available for customers looking to add a special touch to their purchases. For those who prefer convenience, they provide curbside service, allowing customers to pull up, place their order, and have it delivered right to their vehicle.

Overcoming Challenges and Building in Garden City

Building Mary Street IceHouse in Garden City wasn’t without its challenges. Like many projects during the pandemic, the construction process was delayed. However, the end result was worth the wait. The 7,200-square-foot building offers ample space for customers to shop comfortably and enjoy their experience, with plenty of room to browse and explore.
